Adnoc Distribution today has opened Al Madar service station in the emirate of Sharjah.

The facility is the first to open following the agreement signed with Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) earlier this year that authorised Adnoc Distribution to acquire 75 service stations as well as the Sharjah Terminal Depot (Port Khalid) in the emirate of Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.

The opening ceremony of the rebranded Al Madar Service station was attended by Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of Adnoc Distribution, accompanied with officials of Adnoc Distribution senior management in the presence of government officials from the government of Sharjah and guests from the relevant authorities and national companies.

The acquisition agreement mandates Adnoc Distribution to continue working with Emarat on the internal and external redesigning works of the acquired stations and take them over in a phased manner upon the completion of refurbishment works. Following the rebranding exercise, the new signages will allow the public to identify the service stations as Adnoc-owned facilities.

In line with this prerequisite, Adnoc Distribution has completed the rebranding, as well as the internal and external re-design works of the Al Madar service station in conformance with the company’s quality standards. The overhauling works also included an upgrading of all facilities at the premises such as the Adnoc Oasis. Adnoc Distribution will retain the same fuel products that the station retailed prior to its acquisition.

Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of Adnoc Distribution, said: “We are glad to announce the forthcoming operations of the freshly rebranded Al Madar service station. The opening gains added significance given the fact that it is the first service station to commence operations following the acquisition agreement that we signed earlier this year with Emarat. Adnoc Distribution has utilised its expertise to leverage the station’s existing facilities, especially the retail and technical services to fulfill our customer needs and enhance the overall experience for visitors.”

As per the acquisition agreement, 30 service stations in Sharjah, 17 in Ras Al Khaimah, 12 in Fujairah, 10 in Ajman, six in Umm Al Quiwain, as well as the Sharjah Terminal Depot of petroleum products in Sharjah’s Port Khalid have moved under the Adnoc Distribution Service Stations network. The rebranding process of all acquired service stations is anticipated to be completed within the next five years.

In addition to the acquisition activities, Adnoc Distribution is constructing 21 new service stations across different Adnoc assigned locations in the UAE, besides managing more than 80 service stations in the survey or design stage. The acquisitions take the total number of service stations currently managed by Adnoc Distribution to 300.

Adnoc Distribution aims to increase its presence in the region as part of its expansion plans while developing services on par with world class standards to keep pace with the rapid local market growth. In line with this strategy, the company is set to take the total number of service stations that it manages to over 400 within the next two years, doubling its assets since 2010 when Adnoc Distribution had just 180 service stations in its ambit.
