DM installs solar water heater system

In an effort to protect the natural resources the Dubai Municipality has installed solar energy water heating systems.

The environment friendly heaters will help save energy and follow green building standards.

Mr. Ahmed Hassan Al Shammari, Head of Abattoirs Section of Public Health Services said, that currently hot water of 65 degrees is being used which is being heated with help of steam heaters. These boilers are powered by burning diesel fuel and chemicals needed to maintain the required levels of the elements within the permissible limits.

A section in Dubai has taken the initiation and has already installed 210 solar panels. With the installation of this thermal exchange system to the water heater system of the abattoirs can heat 70 – 80 thousand litters of water on daily basis.

The Abattoir section is confident that the solar heater will help reduce the consumption of diesel fuel, electricity and run boilers. This will further help to save the cost incurred in boiler maintenance and reduce toxic gases emission produced by burning diesel.
