Some Sharjah residents complain of receiving increased Sewa bills for the last two months, even as the tariffs and usage remain the same, reporte 'Emarat Al Youm'.

One resident said his electricity bill for the bill for July did not exceed Dh800 but that of August and September crossed Dh1,000.

Hassan Saad a resident of Al Khan area, said he was shocked to see more than Dh1,700 for September, when in August it did not exceed Dh700. He approached a nearby Sewa office but was not satified with thier response and has now submitted the Sewa's official complaints form.

Mohammed Abdul-Ghani also noticed a Dh100 increase in his bills between July and August. But was astonished to see a whopping Dh1,755 in September. Sewa should clarify such unjustifiable increases, he added.

Abdul-Ghani filed a complaint but is also yet to receive a response, he said and alleged that the complaint forms are never looked into and does not benefit consumers in any which way. Users will end up paying the amount fearing electricity to thier homes will be cut, he added.

Ismail Mohamed, a owner of a tailoring shop, said his monthly electricity bill for the shop always stood below Dh800 and for his residence up to Dh1,400. But in September he received a bill of Dh1,100 for shop and Dh1,700 for home.
