On its first anniversary today, UAE’s RAK Airways is offering travellers a special seat sale promotion wherein a limited number of tickets are being sold for just Dh1 today – October 10, 2011, the first anniversary of the airline’s re-launch.

“Over the last twelve months, RAK Airway has enjoyed considerable success due to the support of its loyal customers. We very much wanted to share our success with them and our AED1 special fare promotion is our way of saying thank you,” said CEO, Omar Jahameh in an emailed statement.

The statement added that passenger load factors for the airline averaged around the 80 per cent-mark for the majority of flights throughout the first year of the airline’s re-launch. “Such high demand confirms that we are consistently delivering what our passengers want – small fares and big deals,” said Jahameh.

He added that the airline, which currently flies to nine international destinations including Cairo, Chittagong, Dhaka, Doha, Jeddah, Calicut, Lahore, Kuwait and Peshawar, was in the process of finalizing more routes, “which we will be announcing very soon.”

We are confident our first year anniversary marks the beginning of the airline's continued, long-term success which will also see us play a pivotal role in the development of Ras Al Khaimah as a major, global tourist destination."

The promotional fare is available for booking from 12.01am this morning until midnight today, and tickets can be availed of for travel between October 10, 2011 and March 28, 2012.

RAK Airways adds two Pakistan cities

RAK Airways, a national carrier of the UAE, has expanded its route network with flights to Peshawar and Lahore in Pakistan from the second week of November.

With the addition of two new routes RAK Airways now flies to 8 destinations.

The airline will offer two flights a week to Peshawar and Lahore. The return airfare will start from Dh899 to both the cities.

The airline will allow baggage allowance of 30kg per passenger in addition to the normal hand baggage allowance.

There is also a free shuttle service between other Emirates and RAK International Airport for each flight.

RAK Airways CEO Omar Jahameh said: “The addition of two new routes to our network is an extremely significant development for the airline as we celebrate our first anniversary. We re-launched operations in October 2010 with two inaugural routes – over the last twelve months we’ve focused our efforts on expanding our network to eight destinations while continuing to provide travellers with a value offering on all our flights. Over the next few months we will continue to add to our network, with a range of new destinations around the GCC, Indian sub-continent and beyond.”
