ScreenCheck, a leading identification and security partner in the region, is showcasing two innovative printing solutions – both being introduced for the first time in the region– at the GITEX Technology Week in Dubai.

The first product, Edikio by Evolis, is a unique food grade label card printer that introduces a new hygienic, easy-to- print and manage solution and a timely alternative to existing illegible and unattractive paper and plastic card displays currently used across food chains in the region. The second product, a one-of- its-kind card printer, the Zebra’s ZC10L, promises to change the way existing event badges are printed through, thanks to its large-sized printing capability.

Faisal Mohamed, General Manager of ScreenCheck, says the Ediko printer enables supermarkets, hotels and bakers to print durable, easy-to- clean price tags within seconds, incorporating all the necessary consumer information that complies with the European regulations: ingredients, prices, allergens (INCO) in a single ATM card-sized label.

"The hallmark of the new product is that it offers a new professional look through a harmonised display, making the cards legible, clean and aesthetic. The branding of the retailer as well as the product is enhanced significantly by the easy to design card printer", says Mohamed.

ScreenCheck will be introducing all the three different versions of Ediko printers that cater to various segments.

Edikio Access is the most affordable solution for single-sided card printing in credit card format and is usually used for small volumes. Edikio Flex, on the other hand, offers a more flexible solution for printing price tags in long format as well as credit card format to fit different display needs.

Edikio Duplex is a more advanced solution for double-sided and high-volume card printing. The reverse side allows for the display of information dedicated to the sales staff. All three versions incorporate a software that allows the use of an exclusive chalk handwriting font to give price tags a traditional look.

Meanwhile, the Zebra’s ZC10L, he says, is specifically aimed at event organisers, trade shows exhibitions and allows users to print large-format, edge-to- edge colour cards in one printing process.

"Most event badges today are the size of an ATM card. Information is crammed into the existing space. This is because most card printers are capable of only printing in that size. Although some cards are bigger in size, the information within the card still fits into a narrow ATM-sized box, making it difficult for a visitor to view the other participant details", he says.

The current Zebra printer he says allows personalised and borderless photo-quality printing on the spot and is capable of not only changing the size of the card but also features edge-to- edge printing, thereby enabling a much bigger font and logo. “The printer uses high-quality PVC cards that reduces environmental impact,” he added.

ScreenCheck, which is part of Centena Group, offers end-to- end solutions in identification, biometrics, security and RFID services, and has been participating in Gitex Technology Week since 2004.

Commenting on the participation, Sanjay Raghunath, Chairman and Managing Director of Centena Group, said, “We are delighted to be a part of the GITEX Technology Week and we will be showcasing some of the cutting-edge technological transformations”.

“Gitex Technology Week, he says, is the one of the most important show for ScreenCheck. Our operations is spread across the Middle East and Africa and Gitex enables us to meet our existing and potential clients, to whom we showcase our new products and solution range he added. ScreenCheck is a well-established brand in the region, especially in the ID and Biometric market.

Given the security concerns that we face, most organisations want to invest in protecting their business and premises. The market in this segment has grown many fold over the past decade and we are confident that in the times to come will continue to leapfrog,” he added.
