The unveiling of the official version of Apple’s iPhone 6s is exactly two weeks from now, but that hasn’t stopped luxury gift and specialist gold-plating company Goldgenie from opening pre-order interest in the device.
“As soon as the new iPhone 6s launches, Goldgenie will be offering its signature luxury customised versions of this highly anticipated smartphone. The iPhone 6s will be available in 24K Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum in Goldgenie’s classic elite models,” the firm has announced.
The firm has a countdown timer set for August 31, 2015, when it will start accepting a 50 per cent advance for the bling version of Apple’s new devices, to be delivered days after they’re officially launched.
Interestingly, this is when Apple hasn’t even as much as acknowledged the iPhone 6s’ existence leave alone actually announce its features or form.
Not only that, there have been no official Apple invites sent out as yet for the rumoured event on September 9.
The secretive Apple typically announces its events a week or 10 days before they’re scheduled – last year, invites for the September 9 event were sent out on August 28.
Nevertheless, tech media and retailers are sure it is but a matter of days now before Tim Cook takes the stage to unveil the next iteration of the legendary iPhone at what many are expecting to be the Cupertino-based tech titan’s biggest iPhone event to date.
San Francisco-based Hoodline believes Apple could be the mysterious company that has rented the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium from September 4 until September 13 to host a “private event".
Once Cook takes the wraps off the much awaited new smartphones (there may be two or even three variants of the new iPhone this year, analysts believe), luxury firms such as Goldgenie and Gold & Co are bound to be ready to customise them for their well-heeled clients.
Last year, Gold & Co’s CEO told Emirates 24|7 that UAE was its biggest market for the bespoke iPhone 6 that it began retailing even before the original version hit the country’s shores.
“The UAE is our biggest market,” said Amjad Ali, CEO of Gold & Co London, the company that makes Burj Al Arab-branded 24K gold iPads and iPhones, among other solid gold and other premium metal gadgets.
“The local order-book is insane,” he said within a few days of the global unveiling of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

“The pre-orders have been coming in for six months now,” Ali had said then, adding that he had to get back to his customers once it became clear that there were going to be more than one iPhone 6 models.
This time too Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus at next month’s event, and the specialists are ready to give it the royal treatment, just as they did to its predecessors.

“Customers will also be able to have their luxury customised iPhone 6s personalised with a laser engraving of their choice,” the London-based Goldgenie has now announced.
“The luxury customised iPhone 6s will be available on its own or as part of a gift set with a matching luxury customised Apple Watch. Make sure to register your interest to be the first to know when we launch the collection,” it urges its deep-pocketed customers.
A rough estimate of just how much the bespoke version of the new devices will cost can be made from the fact that the ultra-bling version of the iPhone 6 is available for £2,127.74 (Dh12,275), and that of the iPhone 6 Plus for £2,640.24 (Dh15,225).
So if you’re an ardent Apple fan with deep pockets and penchant for bling, what are you waiting for?
