HTC, LG users in UAE get Android Lollipop updates
After LG, it is HTC’s turn to roll out the latest version of Android Lollipop into its flagship products here in the UAE.
LG made available the update to all its G3 users on January 16 and now HTC One M8 users will be able to download the software update over the air – and over Wifi. The software update 4.16.401.10 is about 780 MB.
Apart from the UAE, HTC has also rolled out the updates in Europe. With the One M8 already getting the update it could soon roll out to other HTC models including the One M7 and HTC Desire. With two of the three most popular devices having already received the update, next it is Samsung’s turn to do the same.
The update brings in a whole range of new features including a revamped start screen.
The update comes amidst reports that Google could be releasing the next version of Android Lollipop version 5.1 and has scheduled it for February.
Both HTC and Samsung are expected to announce the next editions of their flagship devices -- the HTC One M9 and Galaxy S6 -- at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
