Want to make free calls here in the UAE?, All you have to do is download the messaging application called 'Line'.
Line has introduced free voice and video calling feature and the service works in the UAE. However, the service currently works between devices connected to the Internet. But the company soon plans to change this and according to reports there are plans to introduce voice calls to general mobile phones as well as landline numbers at a much cheaper rate.
The VoIP service is likely to be launched sometime in March and will be rolled out first in six countries, says a report published in ‘Engadget’.
The countries are Japan, USA, Mexico, Spain, Thailand and the Philippines. The service will be rolled out into the other markets in a phased manner.
Line plans to introduce two different plans, a pay-as-you-go service and a monthly plan.
Line has been around since 2011 and with the new service will be taking on the likes of Skype.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp, which was recently acquired by Facebook for $19 billion could also get the voice call features.
WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, that the voice call feature will first be available for iOS and Android users and later on BlackBerry and Windows phones.
