Samsung S6 could be new Note Edge with glass body

Samsung requires something special to take on Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6Plus. The South Korean firm is in no mood to take a back seat and, if rumours are to be believed, it is planning to take the competition head on with the launch of the new Galaxy S6.

Samsung could totally revamp the design of the S6, introducing an all new glass and metallic design and importing the curved edges from the Note Edge.

Rumours of Samsung abandoning its plastic-type back cover surface almost every year ahead of the launch of the new flagship. Yet Samsung has continued to retain it. And this time again reports are indicating something similar.

Initial reports indicate that Smsung could launch the new S6 with an all metallic design – something similar to the Galaxy Alpha series. The latest A7 sports an all metallic design and it is believed that Samsung could do the same to the S6.

Meanwhile, according to a report by a Korean daily, the Galaxy S6 may not go for a fully metallic design but opt for a glass and metallic cover. What that means is that the new device could have a metal frame on the side, similar to what is found in the Note 4 and enclose the front and back with glass.

The report by the Korean tech site (https://www.ddaily.co.kr/news/article.html?no=126530) quotes a Samsung official and states that the S6 will have a mix of metallic and glass design but also goes on to state that there could be two variants of the new flagship device – one Galaxy S6 and the other Galaxy S6 Edge.

The Galaxy S6 Edge will have a curved edge similar to the Note Edge. There were also rumours that Samsung could introduce it on both sides of the device.

Samsung needs to come out with something really good to take on the recent onslaught by Apple. Latest reports indicate that iPhone numbers has grown significantly in most markets. The recent holiday season alone saw Apple selling more than 70 million devices across the globe.
