A well-known UAE businessman has won the July 'Person of the Month' award offered by the Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm for supporting the Suqia campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide clean drinking water to five million people in impoverished countries facing water scarcity.

Abdul Rahim Al Zarouni contributed Dhone million for the campaign besides his continuous donations to humanitarian work across the UAE.

Dubai-based Emarat Al Youm, which launched the unique award in early 2012, honoured Al Zarouni at a reception, during which he was given the award by Dhaen Shaheen, editor-in-chief of the Arabic language daily 'Al Bayan'.

“We all should contribute to charity campaigns and work in the UAE. This is our country and it is our duty to support such activities which are intended to help the poor and the needy,” said Al Zarouni, who donated Dhfive million to Suqia imitative.

Shaheen lauded Al Zarouni for his prompt response to that initiative, saying: "Charity gestures are there but need those who respond and take an initiative. Al Zarouni is one of those who took the initiative.”
