UAE IT pros paid highest in GCC but half of those in Switzerland

Information technology professionals in the UAE are paid the best in the GCC, according to a survey carried out by MyHiringClub.com and FlikJobs.com.

The Worldwide IT Salary 2012 survey states that professionals in this sector in the UAE earn $82,312 (Dh302,249.66) per annum, followed by Bahrain ($81,817/Dh300,432.02), Kuwait ($79,523/Dh292008), Qatar ($74,980/Dh275,326) and Saudi Arabia ($73,712/Dh270,670).

Globally, the UAE is ranked 17th on the best IT paymasters globally.

The country has gone up two places as compared to last year.

The current trend shows that the Gulf/Middle East region remains one of the favourite outsourcing destinations due to the low cost factor, but the future may be different due to the rise seen in salaries.

Salaries of professionals within this bracket is highest in Switzerland at $168,211, which is more than double of what their counterparts make in the UAE. Belgium is second on the list with $144,980. The US ranks 4th with an average of $1,28,632 followed by the UK. US improved their ranking by one position compared to last year.

IT managers in Bulgaria, Vietnam and the Indonesia receive the lowest pay at $23,745, $29,831 and $33,965 a year, respectively.

The survey compares the total annual cash compensation and total remuneration information of mid career level for IT staff in 6,111 companies in 40 different countries between 1st August 2012 to 31st August 2012. Purchasing Power Parity – PPP is not a part of this study and calculation.

Asia dominates rankings of lowest payers while Australia tops highest paid IT professionals in Asia Pacific, followed by Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Republic of Korea in fifth place.
