16 men held in Saudi for robbing 70 shops

Saudi Police arrested 16 men accused of stealing 10 cars and nearly 70 shops in various parts of the Gulf kingdom, a newspaper reported on Monday.

Police launched a manhunt for the thieves after they were caught masked by security cameras in some of the burgled shops.

Sabq quoted a police spokesman in the capital Riyadh as saying two of those arrested led police to the other and that all of them confessed to the thefts.

“They set cars used in the burglaries on fire to mislead the police…we recovered some of the stolen items from them,” the spokesman said.
