An Asian baker who was sentenced to three years in jail by a Ras Al Khaimah court on charges of molesting a nine-year-old Arab girl has appealed the sentence and a new verdict is set for later this month.
A criminal court in the northern emirate had convicted the man following a police report that he had touched “sensitive” parts of the girl’s body while she was at his bakery, Alkhaleej daily said.
The court had also ordered his deportation from the UAE after serving his prison term.
“The defendant has appealed the sentence and a new verdict by the appeals court will be issued on March 24,” it said.
