A Pakistani car cleaner who often stole valuable items from unlocked cars has been jailed for three months for stealing a mobile phone. He will be deported after serving his sentence, ordered the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

A pedestrian noticed the cleaner, ZA, 23, open the car of an airport employee and steal from it.

Police arrived and arrested the cleaner who admitted his guilt. The owner of the car had forgotten to lock his car.

While searching the cleaner's accommodation, police officials found a number of items that the cleaner had admitted to stealing from other unlocked cars in the same way.

One of the items found was a black Nokia of HM, 31, a supervisor who works at the airport.

He did not know how his mobile went missing.

“I tried to reach my mobile. I dialed the number several times and even though it rang, no one took the calls. A week after that a colleague of mine told me that my mobile phone was found and asked me to approach the airport police,” the staff said.
