Helpless 65-year-old seeks clothes at night

Colombo: In a pathetic incident an elderly woman of 65 years was misled and molested by a stranger who promised her help.

The woman had set out in the evening from her home in Polgasowita area to visit her daughter, when she lost her way, reported ‘Lankadeep’.

Police were alerted when a woman living near the fields informed them of the elderly lady who had knocked at her door in the wee hours asking for some clothes to cover herself.

Police are investigating and questioned seven people, including four women, in an attempt to nab the suspects.

The stranger reportedly promised the old woman to show her the way to her daughter’s house and misled her to nearby fields and attacked her.
