10.8m Tramadol pills worth Dh3m seized

Police in Ras Al Khaimah foiled an attempt to smuggle 10.8 million Tramadol pills to an Arab-African country through the emirate on the first day of Eid Al Fitr holiday.

Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, said the drugs which have an estimated street value of Dh3 million were carried by smugglers onboard a cargo plane bound for Ras Al Khaimah International Airport from an Asian country.

A number of suspects were arrested in the case and referred to the relevant authorities for legal procedures.

Al Nuaimi praised the role being played by Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, in fighting drugs smuggling
