Sharjah Police has arrested 13 people, all Pakistani nations, on the charge of swindling money from people.
The arrested people used to call their victims and inform them they have won raffle draw of Dh500,000 or Dh200,000 conducted by a local telecom company and tell them to buy telephone cards of high value and send them the pin numbers of the phone cards. Thus they would get the phone card credits transferred to their account .
A large number of mobile phones were also seized from their apartment. They had entered the UAE on visit visa about a month ago.
