14 workers, who were involved in a fight in Sharjah last Sunday in which two people died, have been arrested by police.

Two people died and two suffered moderate to serious injuries when a fight erupted between Indian workers in the Emirate’s Sajaa area on January 3.

Construction tools made of iron were used in the fight

Colonel Ibrahim Misbah, Director of Sharjah Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, said police was informed of the fight at 8.30m on that day. When police reached the scene of the fight, they found two dead bodies and two injured people who were taken to hospital.

The other workers involved in the fight had fled but all of them were arrested within 48 hours.

Investigations confirmed that  financial disputes were the cause of the fight.

The defendants confessed to their involvement in the fight and were transferred to the public prosecution for legal proceedings against them.

Colonel Ibrahim Misbah called on the public to resolve their disputes through the legal process.
