An Omani policeman has been arrested in Dubai for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old compatriot.

The accused KBJ, 34, is accused of exploiting FKS. He molested her at a friend's apartment near Dragon Mart and tried to take advantage against her will on July 19.

According to the charge sheet filed by the prosecutors, KBJ undressed and groped FKS.

The victim testified that she arrived in the country to look for job with her uncle Rashid via Al Muzeire. At the border, she took a public transport bus to Al Rashidiya Metro station in Dubai then went to Al Khaleej Metro station. She met Adel at Al Khaleej who is also a policeman and a friend of her uncle's.

Adel was on duty and asked her to wait till he was done.

FKS narrated the incident, "When Adel finished his duty he went home to change. He came back to fetch me in his own car. I gave him all my papers so that he could look for a job for me."

"He told me that he needs to change into a qandoora to be able to drop me back to Oman. In the meantime Adel received a call from someone called Ali who asked him to lend him his car as he wants to travel to Oman. Adel asked me to accompany Ali to Oman."

"We waited for Ali near the Dragon Mart where they swapped the cars and Adel left the place. Ali too wanted to change clothes so we went to his house."

FKS testified that while she was waiting for Ali to change a man identified as K came and made an indecent proposal. As she refused him KBJ dragged FKS to another room and tried to force himself upon her.

Ali tried to intervene, requesting KBJ to leave her alone but KBJ paid no heed to Ali. KBJ tried to undress her in an attempt to rape.

But after several interventions by Ali, KBJ let go of FKS.

The victim ran out of the house and called Adel and also informed the police.

KBJ denied all the accusation and the Court adjourned the case until December 7.
