2 knife-wielding men rob Indian woman at home

Two Pakistani men posing as detectives robbed an Indian woman at home and frightened her two-year-old daughter before they were arrested by Dubai’s police within five hours after making away with money and jewelry.

The two unnamed men had knocked at the door of the woman’s apartment in Quz and asked her to declare all her money and jewellery but she refused, saying police men normally do not do such things.

They then used knives to force her to bring all her jewelry and Dh5,000, which they seized. As they were about to leave the flat, the woman’s daughter came out of her bedroom crying because of her mother’s screams.

When they saw gold bracelets in the child’s hands, they wanted to use metal cutters to take them off her wrists but her mother begged them not to do so and said she would take off the bracelets herself. They then left with the money and nearly Dh20,000 worth of jewellery in addition to the woman’s passport.

“They were arrested nearly five hours after they carried out this crime,” Dubai’s CID chief Brigadier Khalil Al Mansoori said, quoted by Emarat Al Youm daily.

Another police officer said the two were arrested after investigation led to their whereabouts, adding that several people in Quz gave police their descriptions.

“We then identified the suspects as workers at a Jebel Ali contracting company, which is about to shut down and is cancelling the visas of all its workers…our men raided their flat and arrested the two…they also recovered the money and the jewellry, which is worth nearly Dh20,000,” said Lt Colonel Ahmed Al Marri, criminal interrogation director.
