Two Iranian traders allegedly imported for promotional purpose three million Tramadol tablets, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

A customs officer suspected a number of parcels that contained tablets imported by a company. He seized the consignments and asked the clearing company to inform the importer to come and collect his parcels.

The consignment’s customs declaration certificate showed that they were medical tools. It did not contain medicine as the procedures for clearing medicine differs from those for other cargo.

On February 2, 2015, JM visited the customs department and was arrested. Police laterarrested his partner HR, 41.

A total of 13 million Tramadol tablets were confiscated.

Dubai Prosecution noted that the accused did not have good intentions, which is revealed in not following the necessary procedures for clearance of medicine.

The court will reconvene on February 11.
