3 months jail for forging Dubai Taxi receipt
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced an Indian salesman to three months in jail followed by deportation for cheating a German visitor and forging and using forged documents.
According to court records, ZAA, 37, demanded Dh380 from a German visitor for a trip from the airport to downtown Dubai and back and issued her a forged receipt of Dubai Taxi.
On July 21, ZAA offered FS, German, to drop her at her destination from Terminal 3 of Dubai Airport. She told him that she wanted to look for a hotel but as he could not find the hotel she wanted, he dropped her back at the airport and asked her to pay Dh380. After bargaining, she agreed to pay him Dh230. ZAA issued her a receipt that carried Dubai Taxi’s logo and signed on it.
FS reported the incident to the Airport Police who traced and tracked the car via CCTV cameras.ZAA was dragged to a sandy area near the airport and arrested. The receipt book in the car was confiscated, First Sergeant Mohammed Ali testified.
Dubai Taxi reported that the receipt book is not of their printing and is not used by them.
