Sharjah Police arrested five Asians for gambling and betting as well as selling counterfeit and pornographic films in public places.
The Asians - all Bangladeshi nationals - were nabbed by the Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police.
Three were held for gambling and betting, and anothet two were found to be promoting and selling CDs containing counterfeit films and pornographic content, in Industrial Area 13 of Sharjah.
The Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police has formed a special team to combat the phenomenon of gambling and betting and the practice of suspicious activities.
Security checks on the five defendants, found all to be violators of the laws of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.
The accused confessed to the crimes against them and have been referred to the public prosecution in Sharjah.
