6 tourists rob villa, steal Dh588,000 worth gold

Six Chinese visitors, who broke into a villa at Al Barsha area and stole gold bullions and jewellery, watches worth Dh588,000, received three years in jail each.
 
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered the convicts to be deported after serving their jail terms.
 
On July 16, 2015, at around 9.30pm, AA, 37, Emirati manager and his wife discovered that someone broke into the villa.
 
After searching their property, the couple discovered that their jewellery and watches were stolen from the wardrobe.
 
The missing jewellery include 6 gold bullion worth Dh150,000, diamond set worth Dh40,000, two diamond and gold set worth Dh200,000.
 
In addition to that, the thieves stole, gold necklet worth Dh15,000, five gold sets and rings worth Dh 75,000, three gold bracelets Dh90,000, a watch Dh18,000. They also stole a bullion that carried Sheikh Zayed picture, bracelets necklets and a watch that were of unidentified values.
 
Police investigated the complaints and on July 22, stopped two Chinese who were walking late at night in the same area suspiciously.
 
Policeman Bader Ibrahim said that tools used usually for theft were found in a black bag that also contained gloves.
 
In their car, which was parked in the area, where other two Chinese were arrested, police confiscated jewellery and previous watches.
 
The four accused guided police to other two compatriots and in their flat police confiscated a large collection of jewellery.
 
The accused admitted that three of them climbed the villa wall after sun set while the rest observed the area.
 
The three inside the villa broke the kitchen's door and the safe box in the wardrobe and stole the jewellery and gold.
 
Two of the accused who are aged between 47 and 24, admitted only to picking up and transporting the thieves to and from the villa using a company car and a private car.
 
Police confiscated gloves and tools that carried the DNA of some of the accused.
 
Police found out that the accused committed other two thefts - one in each of Al Rashidiya and Bur Dubai areas, which are being investigated.
