64.5kg of heroine seized: Ministry of Interior

The UAE’s Ministry of Interior on Sunday said 64.5-kilogramme of heroine was seized in the first four months of 2013.

Around 41.5kg of drug was seized in just two months alone during March and April.

Major-General Abdul Jalil Mahdi, Director of Anti-Drug Department at Dubai Police, called on all departments and government bodies to focus on awareness and effects of drugs on health and society.

He said international gangs export these drugs to the state to harm young people, who’re human capital, in order to weaken their mental capacity and creativity.

Heroin is one of the worst kinds of drugs, causing many diseases such as Aids and Hepatitis.

He warned that heroin addicts can resort to violence and engage in different kind of crimes to access drugs.
