A Nigerian visitor and his fugitive friends allegedly kidnapped a taxi driver by holding him from his neck, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On November 7, 2010, SHO, 26 and the fugitives stopped a taxi in Sharjah and asked him to drop them to Dubai.

“Once they arrived at their destination in Dubai the two who were sitting in the back seat got hold of my neck… they looked like Afghans. The African sitting in front pulled Dh300 from my shirt pocket and Dh830 from my purse and ran away,” testified the Afghani driver Mohammed Nasimuddin.

The victim recognised the accused when they were shown in a parade.

The Prosecution noted that the accused was convicted guilty in another theft case in which he followed the same modus operandi…asking a taxi driver to drop him and then robbed him.

Other criminal evidences submitted by the Prosecution is a medical report from Rashid Hospital that proved the driver’s neck sustained attack traces.

The Court adjourned the case to November 20.
