Two alert police officers suspected a car dragging a motorcycle in Al Awir late at night and discovered that the bike was stolen, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On November 25, while patrolling Al Awir, 56-year-old Sergeant Mohammed Ali and 45-year-old First Corporal Fuad Abdullah noticed a grey Kia car dragging a motorbike.

“When we came close to the car, it moved away, leaving behind the motorbike. We followed them but could not stop them,” testified the two officers.

Police arrested juvenile SI who admitted to stealing the motorbike with the help of three others from a villa in Al Awir.

He also confessed about JK, 19, military man, who was driving the Kia car.

NA and OM, both above 18, and JK told prosecutors that it was juvenile SI who stole the motorbike. However, the juvenile claimed that NA was the one who stole the bike using a screwdriver.

Two days after the incident, HK, 23, Emirati, on a visit to his parent’s house in Al Awir, noticed that his motorbike, which does not carry a number plate, was missing, so he reported the incident to the police.

The court will reconvene on February 23.
