Arab arrested for harassing woman

Abu Dhabi Police have arrested a young Arab man on charges of harassing a European woman while she was crossing one of the tunnels on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, reported Emarat Al Youm.

Colonel Ahmed Saif Bin Zeitoun Al Muhairi, Director of the Capital Police Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, said that the police formed a team to arrest the accused immediately after it received a tip-off.

He added that after reviewing the security cameras, the CID team was able to recognise the defendant and arrest him.

He added that the accused pleaded guilty during the investigation, and the Abu Dhabi Police has referred the case to public prosecution to complete the legal procedure against the offender.

Colonel Al Muhairi said that such practices are uncanny for the community. He added it is against the community’s values, customs, and traditions and to disrespect the privacy of others.

He stressed that harassing is punishable by law.
