Asian engineer steals Dh1,000 from ATM

A Filipino maintenance engineer allegedly stole Dh1,000 while repairing an ATM at a hypermarket, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

JA, 39, was assigned to repair ATM machine in a hypermarket in Karama area.
 
Alert Pakistani security guard MO, 29, noticed that the engineer, who was holding a piece of cloth while repairing the machine, pulled out notes and immediately put it in his bag.

"I pulled the cloth from his bag and two notes of Dh500 fell on the floor. When I asked him about it, he said he would return them back to the machine," testified MO who informed the police about the theft.
 
His Nepali co-worker confirmed the testimony.
 
The court will reconvene on September 18.
