Sharjah Police have arrested four Asians who had escaped to Oman after committing a major robbery in the emirate.

The four accused entered the neighbouring country illegally after committing crime in Sharjah’s Al Suer area.

As Emirates 24|7 reported earlier, a goldsmith workshop was robbed of 4.5 kgs of gold after the owner of the workshop was brutally attacked with sharp objects and tools. While only one suspect was involved in the fierce attack that disabled the jewellery owner and an emplopyee, three others were also involved in the crime.

Sharjah Police sources revealed that the four member suspects fled the country after the committing crime and were traced to Oman with the stolen gold. After the injured gold workshop owner informed Sharjah Police about the crime, a team of Criminal Investigation Department officials nabbed the culprits with the help of fingerprints and other evidences gathered from the crime scene.

Two people were hurt in the gold theft crime on May 16, 2013.

A special investigation team was engaged in a marathon operation to nab the culprits involved in the high-profile theft.

Sharjah Police also urged shops and establishments to install surveillance cameras so that such crime can be prevented. The victims of the 8pm attack were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The owner of the gold workshop sustained serious injuries on his face with a sharp tool. The four jewel thieves will be extradited to the UAE after the legal procedures.
