A Sri Lankan investor allegedly forged the stamp and seal of the UAE’s consulate in Colombo on a university certificate of Sri Lanka, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

AB, 46, submitted the forged document to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs for attestation.

The ministry found out that the certificate of the Sri Lankan Open University was forged.

The accused used coloured photocopy of a genuine attestation stamp of the consulate and stuck it on the certificate.

The document, which carried the graduation date of July 31, 1999, carried a different name.

It was also stamped with a forged stamp of the UAE consulate in Colombo.

The court will give sentence on June 29.
