Asian jailed for acid attack on colleague

A Sharjah court sentenced an Asian worker to one year in prison and ordered his deportation from the UAE after he was convicted of throwing acid on his colleague, causing deformities in his face.

The man admitted he splashed liquid on the other worker but denied it was acid, adding that this happened during a fight at the supermarket where they work.

A medical report showed the worker suffered from deformities in the face and other parts of his body.

The defendant told court that the fight followed an argument which was caused by the colleague’s failure to listen to him at work.
