Attempt to sell fake antique gold coins foiled

Sharjah Police has thwarted an attempt by four Pakistanis to sell fake antique gold coins to a buyer for a large sum of money.

The four fraudsters had claimed that they had found the ancient gold coins while working on a site in a neighbouring Gulf country. The coins were gold plated and painted black to give them an antique look.

The fraudsters were caught red-handed.

Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak Smoke, deputy commanding general of Sharjah Police, urged the public not to fall victims to such frauds. He also urged the public to report such attempts to swindle to the police on the toll free numbers 800151 or 999.
