Baby dumped by mum from 9th floor garbage chute in Sharjah recovers

A new born baby dumped by his Filipina mother through the garbage chute from the ninth floor in a building in Sharjah has recovered following intensive treatment at Al Qassimi Hospital and will be soon be handed to the government social centre in the emirate.

The boy is now around one month old and is about to be discharged from the hospital after spending one week at the intensive care unit and nearly three weeks at the paediatrics ward, the semi official daily Alittihad said.

“The baby has recovered and his condition has stabilized…the convulsions he suffered after the fall have stopped and the fracture in his skull and other problems have been treated…he is now around 3.5 kg,” the paper said, quoting the hospital administration.

Police arrested the Filipina housemaid after the building’s watchman found the baby who was still alive after landing on the garbage.
