Baby found abandoned in RAK public toilet

People going into a public toilet in Ras Al Khaimah stumbled across a baby wrapped in a blanket after he was apparently dumped by his mother.

The Civil Defence and an ambulance went to Al Baitara St in Muarid area after receiving calls about the presence of an infant in the toilet.

The Arabic language daily Al Khaleej said the baby was taken to a hospital and that police are taking measures to identify him.

Old Saudi man killed after falling off mountain

A Saudi man in his 60s was killed after falling into a valley from the top of a mountain in the Gulf Kingdom, newspapers reported on Monday.

Civil defence men spent more than one hour to pluck the body out of the valley in the southern rugged town of Tathleeth, they said.

The papers did not mention what the man was doing on the mountain but said police were still investigating Friday’s incident.
