A newborn infant found naked near a garbage bin in Umm Al Quwain is now one year old and in good health after he was taken care of by the government hospital in the emirate.
Named Rashid, the baby was this week handed to the child care centre at the department of social services in Sharjah to start a new life, according to the semi official daily Alittihad.
UAQ hospital said it had offered the baby all necessary medical and social care through its doctors, nurses and other staff. He was also provided with clothes and other items before he was sent to Sharjah.
The unknown baby was found near a large dust bin in Ramla area in the emirate last year. He was found completely naked by a worker and handed over to the police, who gave him to the hospital.
