Traffic mishaps resulted in three deaths last week in the emirate of Sharjah, prompting Captain Meshaal Mohammed bin Khadim, director of Investigation and Planning, Sharjah Police, to issue a statement urging motorists to stop speeding.

In his statement Capt Khadim said that the main cause of such incidents is speeding.

Capt Khadim called on all road users and owners of vehicles and trucks to cooperate with the police and the competent authorities to find real solutions that will reduce traffic accidents.

He said the time had come to respect traffic rules and end abuses like leaving too little a distance between vehicles, in order to avoid fatal accidents.

Sharjah Police also alerted drivers to exercise extreme caution due to the current low-visibility on roads due to the dust and sand storms.
