Building cleaner steals resident’s wallet

The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a cleaner to three months in jail for stealing a wallet that a resident forgot in the building’s playing room.

The court also ordered MA, 33, to be deported after serving his jail term.
 
 On December 24, at noon, WI accompanied his child to the playing room in the tower and after about 10 minutes they left the room.

“Two hours later, I realized that my wallet that  contained Dh10,500 and some cards was missing. I went to the security of the tower and informed them about my missing wallter. Checking camera footage in the playing room area, I was captured having the wallet in my pocket while entering the room. The camera showed that the wallet was not in my pocket when I left the room,” WI said.

Camera footage showed taht cleaner MA was the only one who entered the room after the resident.  The footage also showed that MA’s pocket was swollen when he came out of the room.

Police arrested MA on the same day and confiscated from him a receipt of Dh10,282 transferred to his country.

However, MA denied the theft accusation.
