Cabbie held for molesting 12-year-old girl

Dubai police arrested an Indian taxi driver after he was accused of molesting a 12-year-old school girl while driving her to school.

The girl told police the 35-year-old man touched her chest and other “sensitive” parts of her body, prompting her to yell at him to take his hand off.

After a while, the driver started again to caress the girl who was sat next to him and she again shouted at him.

“When she stepped out of the car, she took the registration number and gave it to her school head mistress, who immediately phoned the police,” the Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum said.

It said the driver denied he had molested the girl while taking her to school in Garhoud area, saying he told her off when she turned up the radio.

“The driver also said that when he reached her school, the girl was asleep…he touched her shoulder to wake her up but she shouted at him and told him not to touch her,” the paper said without identifying the girl.

It said the driver stood trial on Sunday but hearings were adjourned to next month.
