Three Pakistanis allegedly broke into a Toyota car worth Dh91,000 parked near the Gold Souq, stole it and sold it for just Dh14,000, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The car is owned by a company and was given to the driver MS for official use.

“On May 5, MS called me and told me that the car was not to be seen where he had stopped it,” MJ, 44, Indian businessman testified. When the businessman went to the location and did not find the car, he reported the theft to the police.

“I stopped the car at around 9.30pm on May 5 in the parking lot of the Gold Souq and went home which is nearby. The next day morning, when I went to the parking lot, I did not find the car,” testified the driver.

After investigating the complaint, police arrested SS who confessed to stealing the car along with two other accomplices. He admitted that after breaking into the car and starting its engine by cutting and connecting the wires of the switch, he drove the vehicle to Al Madam in Sharjah while the accomplices followed him in their car. He confessed that he had sold the car to an Omani for Dh14,000. Police arrested the other two accused identified as OA and KM.

The Court will reconvene on October 27.
