Child gets off school bus, gets run over in Sharjah

A four-year-old Pakistani boy was knocked over by a car in Saharjah just after his supervisor got him out of the bus and tried to cross over to the other side. It was the third accident to involve a school child and a bus in the UAE in just a month.

The semi official daily Alittihad quoted doctors as saying the boy suffered from serious injuries in the legs and other parts of his body after he was hit by a taxi in Taawun neighborhood in the northern emirate.

The paper quoted police as saying the accident took place on Thursday at the end of the school day and that they are questioning both the supervisor and the cab driver.

“Police said they are interrogating the supervisor and the taxi driver to determine responsibility for this incident…the boy was rushed to Al Qassimi Hospital in a serious condition and doctors said he suffered from serious injuries,” the paper said.

A four-year-old Indian kindergarten pupil died early this month after she was forgotten inside the bus while an Emirati school girl of the same age was run over by a car just after she got off the bus and tried to cross over the road.
