A Bangladeshi building cleaner allegedly kissed a seven-year-old girl on her cheeks and lips in the reception area of a building near her house.

SSN, 44, admitted kissing the child once on her right cheek, claiming that he was prompted to do so as the little girl reminded him of his daughter back home. However, he changed his statement later, saying that he kissed her on her request.

The victim, RH, Indian, testified that she was playing with her friends in the yard of her building before they moved to the adjacent building where they lived.

“When I entered the reception of my friend’s building, the cleaner put aside the tools in his hand and hugged me strongly before kissing me on both my cheeks and lips. I pushed him and ran away. I entered my friend’s house, then left for home and told my mother,” the little girl told investigators.

Her friend who saw the incident supported her story.

The mother of the girl said her daughter looked scared when she returned.

“When my daughter returned home, she told me the cleaner of the neighbouring building had kissed her. I went there and asked the receptionist about the cleaner. When I asked the cleaner what he did, he kept mum. I immediately informed the police who came and arrested him,” testified the mother.

The Court will issue its verdict in a couple of days.
