A 45-year-old Indian cleaner, KSS, who called his company’s staffer from his country after fleeing with stolen money was awarded six months in jail.

KSS stole Dh25,000 and 120 Kuwaiti dinars after breaking the safe of a car glass company and fled the country on August 29, 2009.

The following day, AM, a Pakistani worker in the company, received a call from KSS telling him that he had arrived in India. AM called his employer MSH, 62, and told him about the phone call.

MSH rushed to the office and found out that the safe had been broken and Dh25,000, 120 Kuwaiti dinars and the passport of the accused were missing from the safe, so he called the police.

KSS was arrested last May and admitted to the theft when confronted by the police.
