A driver allegedly hit a Chinese woman with a weightlifting tool in her house and robbed her of Dh8,600 and two mobile phones, fracturing her chest bones and causing wounds on her head, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

SH, 27, Pakistani, claimed before the police that he had a casual relationship with AM, 38, sales woman as he had visited her several times for body massage.

“On December 15, I went to her house and after she massaged me against Dh100, I robbed her of her money and two mobile phones. I beat her with a weight lifting tool and threatened to kill her if she informed the police,” SH admitted after his arrest.

However, the victim did not mention anything about a massage and claimed that the accused had called her to know her whereabouts.

“I informed him that I am in the house. He came in as the door was not locked while I was sitting on the bed. He asked me about my sister and when I told him that she had returned home, he picked a weight lifting tool, hit my head and demanded money.

“I told him that the money is in the pocket of my jeans. He took Dh8,600 and two mobile phones. He first asked me to stay in the corner and then asked me to go to the bathroom before threatening to kill me if I inform the police. After he left, I called the police,” AM told investigators.

MA was rushed to the hospital for treatment for her 3cm wound and bruises in the front of her head and fractures in her chest bones.

Police arrested the accused and confiscated the two mobile phones of the victim who recognized him when shown to her via identification parade.

The Court will give its sentence on March 19.
