A 19-year-old Emirati policeman, KKJ, allegedly possessed for promotional purpose 417 tablets of the drug Tramadol, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Khalid Mousa, Second Lieutenant from the Anti- Drugs Department, testified that the department had received a tip off about the policeman possessing and taking drugs.

At 6am on September 12, the officer went with a squad to Al Ghusaid metro station where the accused was assigned to work. Searching him, policemen did not find anything on him.  However, he confessed to having Tramadol tablets in his car. In his car, police found a quantity of Tramadol which he said that he obtained from his brother’s friend for personal use as well as for promoting it among others.

His colleague Mohammed Abdulrahman repeated the same testimony. Urine tests of the accused proved positive for Tramadol and another substance.

The court will reconvene on January 2.
