A drunk Saudi visitor, who claimed to be a ‘Daesh’ member and threatened a hotel receptionist with blowing up the hotel, was sentenced to a three-month suspended jail term.

However, the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance ordered MF, 46, to pay a fine of Dh2,000 for consuming alcohol and to be deported after executing the sentence.

According to the records, AN, 30, Egyptian receptionist of a hotel in Deira, reported that on October 4 at around 5.30pm, he received a call from a guest in one of the hotel’s rooms.

“The guest, MF, told me that he is a member of the ‘Daesh’ group and threatened to blow up the hotel if I did not send him a staff to help him in his room,” testified AN.

The receptionist reported the incident to the police.

The accused, who was under the influence of alcohol the time of his arrest, admitted to threatening to blow up the hotel and consuming alcohol.

The accused told the court that he was drunk and did not remember what he said to the receptionist that day. He added that he realised that he was in police station detention after he regained awareness.
