The Dubai Public Prosecution has referred to the Court four Asians accused of stealing Dh4.9 million while being transporting from a money exchange company to a shop in Murshid Souq.

The driver, who works for the money exchange company, planned with other three to steal the money while transporting it by ambushing the car he drove, said Mohammed Hassan Abdul Rahim, Chief Prosecutor in Deira Prosecution.

The four agreed on executing the attack drama at a location not covered by surveillance cameras and assigned the roles of all the four in the operation.

On August 22, the victim decided to transport Dh4.9 million from his father’s exchange company to his shop in Murshid Souq. He was accompanied by the driver of the car used for transporting money.

They took the amount from the money exchange company and were on their way to the shop when a car blocked their way.

Three men jumped from the car and opened the back doors of the victim’s car. They threatened the passenger with a knife, sprayed anaesthetic substance in the car and tied him up with a scotch tape. They then fled with the money.

Investigations lead to the accused who confessed to planning to rob the driver’s employer.

Abdul Rahim warned the public against revealing information to anyone when transporting or carrying large sums of money.

He also asked money changers to be more careful in choosing employees.
