A Pakistani driver along with two accomplices allegedly stole his employer’s four truck trailers worth about Dh160,000 using the employer’s truck, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Camera footages of shops near the area where the trailers were parked helped police identify the truck used to load one of the trailers.

A worker informed Emirati employer Khalid that four trailers that were parked by the driver near their accommodation were missing.

“I informed the police about the theft of the four trailers worth about Dh40,000 each. Later, I found one of the missing trailers parked in Ras Al Khor, so I informed the police,” Khalid testified.

Investigating the theft, police reviewed camera footage of shops in Ras Al Khor. “My company’s truck was used to steal our trailers,” said the businessman.

The footages also captured two of the company’s drivers who were recognised by the businessman.

After questioning, drivers AM and ND, both Pakistanis, admitted to the stealing the trailers and guided the police to the place where two of them were parked.

They also confessed that they had sold one of the trailers to a person through JM, an Afghan national and mechanic. They said they had moved the trailer to Sharjah where they sold it. Police arrested JM who denied knowledge that the trailer was stolen.

The Court will issue its sentence on October 31.
