Druggie driver gets one year + licence suspension

The Dubai Traffic Court sentenced a driver to one year in jal and ordered the suspension of his driving licence starting from the day finishing his imprisonment term for driving under the influence of drugs.

The 24-year-old Gulf state motorist was also ordered to pay Dh200 fine.

According to the records, the driver was driving his car on Al Ribat road when he suddenly swerved to the right colliding to two cars causing damages to the cars.

Police investigated the accident and suspected the motorist was under the influence of drugs.

Urine test was conducted and proved positive to drugs.

The Prosecution had asked the Court to implement stiff penalty against the motorist and logged five accusations against him: taking drugs, driving a car under the influence of drugs, damaging other’s properties, driving a car with expired licence and failing to present driving licence upon request.

Thea accused was found guilty and was given the sentence for the accusations.

The Traffic Prosecution asked motorist to abide by rules and regulations and help improve safety and security on roads.
