Drunk worker bites friend’s ear in a fight over food

It was June 28, 1997 in Las Vegas, when Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield ear during a fight in the boxing ring. But on August 18, 2011 it was not in the boxing ring but in Muhaisna area when a drunk worker allegedly bit his friend’s ear in a fight over food.

It resulted in one per cent rate of disability in the worker’s ear, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim Rajishor Nela, 35, Indian, construction worker , testified that on August 18 at around 12am he was in the  accommodation of Al Fateh Contracting at Muhaisna 2 area  SMB, entered the room and attacked him by biting his right ears.

“I tried to push him away but could not because he bit my ear so hard cutting a piece out with his teeth,” he testified.

He testified that he had known SMB for more than a year, and both lived in the same room and on the day of the incident he entered the room and was very drunk.

“I did not assaulting SMB… I do not know why he attacked me… I screamed to the extent that an Egyptian colleague came to the room… he saw me bleeding so he immediately called the police,” he testified.

However, SMB testified that they were both consuming alcohol in the room. A dispute occurred over where they had dinner. He blamed RN for attacking him first.

Forensic reported the victim’s ear was cut due to a human bit which caused him about one per cent rate of disability.

SMB, 22, Indian, worker, was accused of assaulting a person causing him a permanent disability and of consuming alcohol.

The accused confessed to the accusations of biting his compatriot’s ear and consuming alcohol but denied initiating the fight. The Court adjourned the case for verdict till October 27.
